social networking

I've added quite a few things to the links side of my blog lately, as well as started following/getting followed by more and more people on Twitter. We were talking in graphic design class a week or two ago about how Facebook and Myspace and Twitter and everything else like unto is really growing and becoming a major part of how we stay connected with the world, and how we get the word out, so to speak. We're already encouraged as design students to buy our own unique web address and include that and our email information on our resumes. It raised the question whether we should also include our social networking info, and I was surprised that my professor wasn't really sure about it. Ultimately, he said we probably shouldn't, but that it really was a matter of personal preference considering this day and age. I just find it interesting how technology and such progresses so quickly, and just how much of an impact it has on our lives as a whole; how it shapes the way we live and work and play. It's an amazing thing.
