puzzling internets (and LDS temple trip!! :D )

Well, it seems the leadership behind the school's internet server have been making some changes to the way things work around here. Two nights ago, my roommate randomly tried to get on Facebook, which is usually blocked, but we were both amazed when the site came right up, and it's been allowing us to access it ever since. I guess they finally heard enough people complain about it. Who'da thunk? That same night, it was pretty much open-server and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that a bunch of people went to the dean for going to...um, shall we say "innapropriate"...sites, because NOTHING was blocked. They're slowly regaining control, however, and most things are back to the way they were. Gaming sites are blocked between 2am and 5:30pm again, but facebook is accessible all day. Hmm. Well, no complaints here! ^_^

Also, I had the opportunity to attend the recently-dedicated Rexburg temple this morning to perform baptisms on behalf of those who have passed on. It was a beautiful, joyful experience and I'm going to try to make it at least once a week from now on. If you have any questions about anything I've just said, please feel free to comment and ask. I'm always open to discussion about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and what we believe and practice. :)

"Erin! I blew up the kitchen!"

Yup. Lindsey blew up the kitchen. XD

That's what we get for going to Idaho Falls for three hours and forgetting what we left on the stove! Lol!

Oh, and that kitchen is now EMACULATE, I'll have you all know. XD

wtf parking ticket?!

I love Rexburg. Seriously, I do. I can deal with the snow and the wind and the insane weather mood swings that everyone complains about. What I really don't like, however, especially since I now have my little '93 Saturn up here with me, is the parking situation. I don't particularly care for the overall driving situation either, but that's for a later rant.

So, there's a single parking lot, not very big, mind you, between the two rows of dorm buildings. Small as it is, it always seems to fit all of the cars for those of us in the dorms. However, the problem is that the very same parking lot is free game for those with A or B parking stickers during the day (which is until about 5pm). In order for me to be to work on time, I have to drive, so by the time I come back, it's a toss-up whether there will be a spot when I get back.

Last month, I don't remember exactly when, but it's been at least two or three weeks, there was one of those days that I couldn't find a spot. At all. So, I parked on the street side of the dorm, intending to put it in the other later because the street side is off-limits after like 2am so that they can clean the streets of snow at night. Well, I totally forgot about it until the next day, and I freaked out because I've got a clean record and I wasn't sure if they had towed my poor little Saturn or given me a ticket or what. I was relieved to find it in the spot where I'd left it, and with no ticket.

Fast forward to today, when my mom calls to yell at me to pay my ticket. I was thoroughly confused, but it's legitimate, even if it is retarded. I mean, yes, the car is registered in California and so any notices about my having not paid a ticket yet would go there. But, excuse my French, how the hell am I supposed to pay a ticket that I don't even know I have? Doesn't the RPD work with Campus Police, and therefore have access to records of my local address?

So, wonderful. Thanks to a combination of retarded parking situation and lack of written proof of ticket, and possibly the aforementioned weather moods swings which might have blown away said proof of ticket, I now have a $20 parking ticket to pay and I no longer have a spotless traffic record. :|
